Craig Cerrig Gleisiad

Our first hill day of the year. Starting at Storey Arms we walked  the Taff Trail north for about 2 miles before taking a right of way down into the valley bottom and then steeply up thorugh a field back to the A470.

Crossing the road we walked through an avenue of trees and on into a shady, atmospheric amphitheatre created by the soaring, craggy cliffs of Craig Cerrig Gleisiad.  We walked into the cwm and took the steep path up the right-hand side up to the rim and then on to the cairn of Fan Frynych.

We returned to the path along the tops of the cliffs and stopped for a bite to eat overlooking the cwm.  After a cup of coffee we continued along the cliff top, now in a snow storm which made finding the Beacons Way for the return trip a little difficult.  However once visibility eased we located te path and set off for Fan Fawr.

Except we never actually got there thanks to having taken our time looking around and not having enough daylight left for the trip to the top.

About Me

Hello. My name is Roger and despite nearly 70 years experience of life I still haven't made any real sense of it.

I'm married to Linda who kindly shares many of my outdoor adventures with me. We have two grown up sons and two young granddaughters.

Retired after 40 years working for the same company I spend my time with my family, Hill-walking, Wild Camping, Scouting, and anything else I can fit in.
